I'm a southern girl, born and raised in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. I've been an artist, per se, for as long as I can remember; always creating in some medium or another. I was drawn to Charleston to attend the College of Charleston. Years before even beginning to consider colleges I knew studio art was the major for me and upon starting my freshmen year at the College that's just what I did. However, sometime during my sophomore year I changed it to business administration after being conditioned by society to thinking it was more "practical". I compensated my love for the arts by minoring in art history which involved drawing and painting classes. I also took as many art electives as I possibly could; I was overflowing with elective credits by graduation (yay liberal arts)!
My passion for art enticed me to live and study in Rome, a haven for all things, art, architecture, and history. While the bustling Italian culture and lush country side inspired me, it also drew me back to one of my favorite subjects, the American South. I adore painting what I know and love…the South, the lowcountry, and animals. I work in oils and enjoy painting on birch wood panel along with the traditional stretched canvas.
While I adore painting in oils, I also love working with gouache watercolors, creating lifestyle and fashion illustrations. I work with individuals and businesses alike to create one of a kind watercolor & ink illustrations.
I recently moved from the Charleston, SC area to Wilmington, NC with my husband, Derek and 2 kitties, Luna and Eva Snow. On top of art, I'm passionate about animals, the environment, a plant-based lifestyle and helping spread awareness of its benefits through my other business, The Refined Hippie.
