New Artwork

Is there really a "wedding season" in Charleston these days? Perhaps there are some months that there are more weddings, but it seems people flock here year round to tie the knot. Either way I like it! Especially since I was one of those knot tieing lovebirds. It's been three weeks since that magical day that I married my best friend and it still feels weird to say "my husband." I suppose that will sound strange for a while. I feel so adult-like. Anyways, I digress about my own nuptials. Here are a few of my favorite recent wedding illustrations...not necessarily from Charleston but wedding none the less.  ..

Well, at the beginning of this summer I certainly had all intentions of blogging more, but I think a lot of brides (past and future) will agree that wedding planning takes a lot! A lot time and energy that is. I never dreamed of all the random decisions that would need to be made. And these are things no one can decide for you. Well, maybe they can but I am not that type of person. However, I will say I can see the light! Perhaps even multiple lights at the end of this tunnel. We are now less than 4 weeks away from the big day. I feel some what overwhelmed that it's so close but super excited of course. The following Tuesday after our wedding, Derek and I will be jetting off to Paris (see where the lights come in)! Yay! Obviously now you get where this illustration ties in as well. Trying to find the perfect wedding gift is always a difficult decision. One can choose something from the couples wedding registry but if you want something super unique you have to think outside the box. Now, I'm not saying artwork is necessarily "outside the box", but my recent commission is certainly special! This particular bride and groom were getting married at the stunning Olde Wide Awake Plantation. Their mothers contacted me several months back and wanted an oil painting of the plantation to surprise their kids. Also, before they presented the painting they wanted to get the whole wedding party to sign the back. How neat! I painted the piece on birch wood panel so it made it even easier for signing. I can only imagine how gorgeous the wedding was as that plantation is breathtaking! ..

Last week I participated in a super fun party at Vestique boutique located in downtown Charleston. The party was in honor of Charleston's annual Spoleto festival and featured my fashion illustrations as well as jewelry from 3 Little Beads. What a fun evening!  ..

Spring has sprung in Charleston! Nothing feels more spring-like than pink gingham! If this Oscar de la Renta 2015 ready-to-wear ensemble doesn't scream SPRING then I don't know what does. While I'm obsessed with this outfit, it might not be very pratical (like most items on the runway I suppose). My main concern is the coat. There is a very very very small window when one can actually wear such a springy coat in the south. However, if I had this outfit I would totally be up for the challenge.  Prints of this lovely lady are available here.  ..

Behold! One of my favorite illustrations of all time..."Holy City Breakfast"! What is better than a leisurely breakfast on a veranda looking over one of the most fabulous cities in the world? Not much. :-)..
